Welcome to Chris Weston Wildlife Photography

"Someone once asked me, 'Are you doing right now what it is you most want to do?' The answer was no. And so I stopped what I was doing and became a full-time wildlife and natural history photographer. That was several years ago now and I love my job today as much as I did then. This website was created to enable you to share in my passion. Whether you are here looking for an image, contemplating a photo safari or workshop, looking for tips or just stopping by to browse, I hope you find inspiration in what you discover. Thanks for visiting." CW., 2008.

Every summer, on the Alaska Peninsular, brown bears gather to feed on the salmon that are migrating to their spawning grounds. It is one of the world's greatest wildlife spectacles.

This is what the bears come for: a sockeye salmon makes its way upstream
A female waits for the salmon to run
A water beard forms as the bear desaturates its fur after a frantic chase for salmon
A bear lunges, attemping to ambush passing salmon
All this bear's efforts are rewarded with a successful catch
