E-Xhibition - Brown Bears of the Alaska Peninsular
Every summer, on the Alaska Peninsular, brown bears gather to feed on the salmon that are migrating to their spawning grounds. It is one of the world's greatest wildlife spectacles. This year I took a small group to photograph the action, from Hallo Bay, which runs between Cape Chiniak and Cape Nukshak, south to Geographic Harbour, with its backdrop of snow-capped mountains. I shot these images between 24th and 29th August using a range of equipment, including Nikon D3 and D2X bodies, and lenses ranging from a 200-400mm telephoto zoom to a 10.5mmm fish-eye. For many of the shots, the cameras were mounted on a Gitzo tripod with a Wimberley gymbal-type head. All images were captured in RAW file mode and converted in Adobe Camera Raw.
